Caravanners rally the Mark Festival

posted in: Charity, Mark | 0

The weather is improving and that means it is time for caravanners to rally round and enjoy the freedom of our beautiful Country. And it may not be a surprise that some Freemasons are caravanners and combine this with a rally round a good cause or two.

At the recent AGM of The Durham Masonic Caravan and Camping Club they unanimously agreed to give the Durham Mark 2029 Festival a kick start by donating £200.

The club consists of a small number of Freemasons and partners who enjoy touring holidays and breaks away in caravans, motorhomes or under canvass. At various meets and rallies during the year, club members raise charitable funds by organising social events which often include raffles, tombolas or a quiz.

The DMCCC treasurer John Watts and the Assistant Provincial Grand Master Trevor Lynn were attending a recent daylight craft Lodge meeting in Crook. During the meeting they happened to converse about the DMCCC. This conversation continued during lunch when Trevor thanked all members of DMCCC for their generous donation. John indicated the happy campers might raise more funds for the Durham Mark Festival before it ends in 2029.

Throughout the year the DMCCC organise a number of caravan and camping rallies, mostly in the North East but we have also held rallies in Scotland, the Lake District, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. The aim is to enjoy the great outdoors with the emphasis on relaxed family enjoyment.

Further information and a list of future events is available on the club website here.
