The Mark helps Santa in Dawdon

Santa made an early appearance at Dawdon Community Centre in Seaham on Dec 23rd.  It happened when the Mark Benevolent Fund responded to a late appeal for funds.  This would enable them to stock up their food bank and to provide toys for those who have very little.

Pictured at the presentation are Provincial Grand Secretary, Allan Gurney, handing over a cheque for £750 to Marion McKenna, Manager of the Centre.  Also in attendance were Roy Neville, Provincial Grand Charity Steward, Sonia Forster, Seaham Town Councillor and Past Mayor of Seaham, together with our own News Editor and photographer, Martin Schoolkate.

Both Sonia and Marion expressed their gratitude to the Mark Degree for their generous donation.  They gave a brief account of how they work with other agencies to identify families in most need.  The presentation team  considered this is a grant which is both rewarding and can be seen to make a real difference.
