On the evening of Thursday 7th November 2019 the Deputy Provincial Grand Master (DPGM), David Hanson made an official visit to George Washington Lodge of Mark Master Masons at Birtley.

Once the lodge was opened the Provincial Grand Director Ceremony, Sid Watson announced that the DPGM demands admission. He was accompanied into the lodge by a number of Provincial and Grand Mark Officers.

After the salutations David thanked the Worshipful Master for the honour and privilege of occupying the chair of this fine lodge and said he was looking forward to the evening.

The next business of the evening was to demonstrate a ceremony of Advancement. The candidate for the evening was the DPGM! After a very good ceremony the DPGM presented David Francis Cunningham who had recently been Advanced, with his Grand Lodge Certificate. With the business of the lodge finished the Worshipful Master closed the lodge and the brethren retired to the festive board.

When the DPGM responded to his toast he thanked all the brethren who took part in the ceremony especially the Senior Deacon, Charles MacLeod who kept him right! He also thanked the brethren of George Washington Lodge of MMM for a generous cheque for the Centenary Fund.

Another cracking evening in the Mark degree.
